The Mine (Northwest Passage Book 1) by John A. Heldt.
Little description: In May 2000, Joel Smith is a cocky, adventurous young man who sees the world as his playground. But when the college senior, days from graduation, enters an abandoned Montana mine, he discovers the price of reckless curiosity. He emerges in May 1941 with a cell phone he can’t use, money he can’t spend, and little but his wits to guide his way. Stuck in the age of swing dancing and a peacetime draft, Joel begins a new life as the nation drifts toward war. With the help of his 21-year-old trailblazing grandmother and her friends, he finds his place in a world he knew only from movies and books. But when an opportunity comes to return to the present, Joel must decide whether to leave his new love in the past or choose a course that will alter their lives forever. THE MINE is a love story that follows a humbled man through a critical time in history as he adjusts to new surroundings and wrestles with the knowledge of things to come.

My thoughts: 5 stars out of 5
One of the greatest time-travel stories, created by John Heldt. The mysteries of the solar system made five planets, including the Earth, to align with the Sun. What would happen to the Earth if each planet will pull on it with its gravity field? Some predicted calamily… Some predicted that their gravity would not be strong enough for Earth to respond.
But for Joel Smith it turned out to be the greatest adventure he never dreamed of. After hiking with his friend, Adam, Joel stopped to eat at some restaurant. They were in hurry to be back on the road. It will take some hours to return home from their trip and in time to study for the exams, and prepare for the graduation.
They changed their course after the road block and heavy traffic. Joel went around, taking a old, abandoned road across the fields of the old mine. After 30 minutes of worst riding path, they came to road-fork. Joel decides to head back, when he noticed an old sign with MINE on it. Adam knew what Joel will do, and he was ready to argue about that. But knowing Joel’s curiosity, they agreed Joel will check the mine alone for thirty minutes, and they are out of this place. Joel went in, but he wasn’t ready to what happened next to him.
I loved the plot in the book.
