Abiding Mercy (An Amish Mercies Novel) by Ruth Reid

Little description:Faith faces an impossible situation: Should she do the right thing and bring heartache to nearly everyone she knows or deny her true self and always wonder . . . what if?

Sixteen-year-old Faith has worked full-time in her parents’ restaurant since she finished eighth grade. She loves her Amish community—and the romantic attentions of her longtime friend, Gideon.

When her sister seems to be getting too friendly with Englischers, and her parents are in a buggy accident, Faith wants to escape into her dream of joining the church and getting married.

But then a local newspaper runs a story about a child named Adriana who was kidnapped fifteen years earlier, and everything Faith has held true comes into question.

Suddenly the community Faith has known her whole life seems unreal. Can she even trust her own family? And how will she ever find home again if she no longer belongs in the world she knows best?

My thoughts: 5 stars out of 5

I love Ruth Reid’s writing style: the story of an Amish teenager, Faith, who knows nothing about the world outside, and loves with her heart the community she grew up… She couldn’t figure out one thing- the hate that came from her sister, but the cold stares met her every time she wanted to make it right. What happened between them? This question always tagged Faith as long as she could remember. But after parents’ buggy incident she was plunged in more confusion and out of control…. Why her sister completely estranged herself from helping even in the restaurant? But with that Faith didn’t mind the helping hand from the sister’s fiance.

Filled with hope and faith to the only One Who can help her, Faith moved through the toughest stages of her life… With new home and new lifestyle that she learned to keep away, Faith always had the red-haired man to thank for… Is he her guardian angel, and if he is, he helped her plenty of time…
